Harry J. Gensler is Professor of Philosophy at Loyola University Chicago. His Michigan Ph.D. featured a dissertation on the golden rule under William Frankena. He taught at Loyola from 1981 to 1996, and then returned full-time in 2014. He has published six books on logic, six on ethics, and one on Catholic philosophy; his latest was Ethics and the Golden Rule (Routledge 2013) and his next will be Ethics and Religion (Cambridge 2016). He has published many articles, and the LogiCola and EthiCola software for logic and ethics. His extensive personal Web site has more information on him.

An avid outdoorsperson, Gensler has hiked Georgia to Maine (Appalachian Trail) and Mexico to Canada (Pacific Crest Trail); but the Southwest canyons are his favorite. Bicycle trips include LA to NY, Chicago to Newfoundland, and around Lake Michigan by way of New Orleans. The picture here is from a raft trip on the Colorado River.

Gensler is a Catholic priest and member of the Jesuit religious order founded by Ignatius of Loyola.
