Invisible Conflicts Loyola

Mission Statement:

We recognize that the world is full of invisible conflicts ignored by mainstream media and governments. We enable the victims of these conflicts to tell their stories, and we establish real and personal relationships between communities of power and privilege and those of poverty and oppression. Through the mutual exchange of values and knowledge, we find practical ways to help one another, and transform communities in conflict regions as well as our own. Committed to cultural relevance and positivity, we encourage everyday people to take action by giving them simple and concrete ways to make a difference. By taking action ourselves, we lead the way for our peers.

Who we are:

We are a student organization at Loyola University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Through our program, the Dwon Madiki Partnership, 20 very special children in Uganda now have hope for a bright future!

Our purpose:

We have three major objectives:

  1. Expose the effects of a 21 year-long war on the children of Northern Uganda by telling their stories in a relevant way.
  2. Empower our peers to act for justice in concrete ways.
  3. Fund the Dwon Madiki Partnership for the year 2008, which provides 20 "invisible children" in Uganda with education, mentors and creative outlets for cultural artistic expression.
