Commuter/Resimuter: What's the Difference

Commuter Students

Typically undergraduate students who live at home with family or guardians and commute to campus each day. Commuter students may often hold a number of responsibilities outside of classes, including work, home, and family responsibilities.

Resimuter Students

Students who are junior status or above and do not live in institutionally-owned residence halls but live within the Loyola University district (zip codes: 60626, 60660, 60611). They live alone or with friends in the Rogers Park & Edgewater neighborhoods. As newer residents, some resimuters will need to acclimate to being members of surrounding neighborhoods and adjust to living in non-residence hall environments. Others may have extensive experience living in apartment-style housing and may simply wish to live closer to campus.
