LUREC Challenge Course
Why participate in a Challenge Course program?
The Challenge Course is a valuable instrument for group development. Located at the Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC) in Woodstock, IL, the Challenge Course is available to all Loyola University Chicago groups including retreats, student organizations, class meetings, athletic teams, and faculty and staff committees and departments.
The Challenge Course is an experiential learning tool; groups are facilitated through challenging activities that require problem solving, effective communication, cooperation, leadership, time management, trust, goal setting, and group support in order to succeed. Facilitators then lead discussions and reflections around those activities – groups are able to recognize individual and group strengths and weaknesses. These discussions and learnings are applied to real life situations; participants are able to identify and improve qualities that create effective and thriving team members. This is done all while having a great time and building camaraderie.
