Alumni Awards
The Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing Alumni Board recognizes and honors alumni for their contributions to the betterment of the School through the presentation of the Distinguished Alumnus and Spirit of Ignatius Awards. The awards are presented during the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing's Annual Alumni Mass and Awards Brunch.
Distinguished Alumnus Award
This the most prestigious acknowledgment of the accomplishments of our nursing alumni. This award is presented to an alumnus who has brought pride and recognition to Niehoff by having achieved prominence in nursing on a regional, national, or international level. One award is given each year.
The criteria for the award are:
- Alumna/Alumnus of the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Loyola University Chicago
- Sustained record of accomplishments in nursing education, research, or practice
- Continuing interest in the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Loyola University Chicago
- Possessing such integrity and stature that the faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the school will take pride in, and are inspired by his/her recognition
Spirit of Ignatius Award
This is presented annually to an alumnus of the school of nursing who best characterizes Cura Personalis or "Care of the Person."
The criteria for the award are:
- Promotes the mission of Loyola University and the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing through word, action, and deed
- Is present to others, be they colleagues, students and other university constituents
- Displays a spirit of charity to others
- Through example, engenders in others their desire to perform at their best
Damen Award
Named for Loyola University Chicago's primary founder, Arnold Damen, S.J., this award is granted to an alumnus(a) from each of Loyola's schools and colleges. It recognizes the qualities of leadership in industry, leadership in community and service to others. The awards are presented each year at the Founder's Dinner.
