Convention
Hotel
This year the M/MLA has selected the beautiful St. Louis Union Station Marriott hotel as the setting for its 51st Annual Convention. The hotel is located in the historical Union Station. The hotel is a beautiful example of Victorian Romanesque architecture. It features a gold-leafed Grand Hall with Romanesque arches, a 65-foot barrel-vaulted ceiling and stained-glass windows.
The Union Station complex includes a shopping mall, restaurants, and a food court. With plenty of meeting space and a memory of the 1904 World's Fair in the Grand Hall with its Whispering Arch, the St. Louis Union Station Marriott is just a short distance from the Gateway Arch, the historic University City Loop and the Center of Contemporary Arts, Forest Park and the St. Louis Zoo, the Grand Center district with its EarthWays Home tended by the Missouri Botanical Garden, and the City Museum lodged in an old shoe factory.
And the M/MLA rate? A remarkable $139 for all rooms - singles, doubles, triples, and quads. Great news for travel budgets. The deadline to make reservations at the convention rate of $139 per night is Tuesday, October 20, 2009.
