Ignatian Service day
In honor of the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola (July 31st) Loyola staff and faculty will have options to volunteer at one of two places: Tuesday, July 22, at Misercordia in Rogers Park, or the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on Friday, July 25, 2014.
Ignatian Service Projects:
Loyola staff and faculty will volunteer at Misericordia on Tuesday, July 22 and at the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels in West Humboldt Park on Friday, July 25. Full details on the service projects, departure times, and transportation are available now at the registration page. To learn more, or to register, click here. Registration for individuals or small groups is open through Friday, July 18th.
We also will conduct an on-campus school supply drive for the children enrolled in the Mission’s after school program. Our challenge is to prepare 100 backpacks with the school supplies needed by the children. The backpacks have been donated, now we need to fill them up with the assigned supplies. Drop-off locations will be available at the Lake Shore, Water Tower, and Health Sciences campuses from Monday, July 7 through Tuesday, July 24. For more information, please read our donation list.
Mass, Ribbon-Cutting, and Picnic: Thursday, July 31
On Thursday, July 31, we will celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Ignatius of Loyola with a Mass in Madonna della Strada Chapel at 11 a.m. and our annual picnic, which this year will be held inside the Damen Student Center's new addition. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at Noon (near the Damen Student Center welcome desk) and food will be served at 12:15 p.m. A number of activities, including bingo, a rock climbing wall, corn hole/bags, raffles, and more, will begin at 12:15 p.m. as well. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. For those interested in singing in the choir at Mass, please contact Steven Betancourt at firstname.lastname@example.org. Rehearsal will begin at 10 a.m. on July 31 in the MDS Chapel.
If you have any questions about these opportunities, please contact email@example.com or 773-508-7431.
