Loyola University Museum of Art Continues "Tea with the Jesuits"

Discussion of the Wounded Body of Christ and the Modern Social Conscience

What:
The next installment of the Loyola University Museum of Art's "Tea with the Jesuits" series is Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. The focus of the discussion is "The Wounded Body of Christ and the Modern Social Conscience" and it will be led by Terrence E. Dempsey, S.J., director of the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art at Saint Louis University. Father Dempsey will offer a brief overview of how images associated with the wounded body of Christ have been used by modern and contemporary artists to inspire devotion and to stimulate an empathetic response that leads the viewer to action in the social issues that are of greatest concern to the artists.

The event is free with museum admission and RSVP is encouraged. To register, send an e-mail to luma@luc.edu or call 312.915.7608.

Looking ahead, the series will continue in May with guest speaker Stephen Krupa, S.J., of Loyola's Institute of Pastoral Studies. More information on that lecture can be found at LUC.edu/luma/events.
