Yvonne Jacquette is a New York artist who was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is well known for painting aerial views of various types of landscapes, which she observes from taking flights in a rented Cessna airplane. Her nocturnal city skylines include San Francisco, New Orleans, Hong Kong, New York, and in this piece, Chicago. Her work is included in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; and the Staatliche Museum, Berlin.
