Introduction
Since opening in 2005, the Loyola University Museum of Art (LUMA) has hosted ambitious educational programming designed to engage people from ages 5 to 100. We seek to provide memorable experiences that lead to discovery, awareness and curiosity. We hope to encourage life-long learning and believe that through our programs learning to see and seeing to learn make for a fuller, richer life.

Push Pin Gallery
The Push Pin Gallery is an exhibition area for art by children. Each exhibition is hung by museum professionals and includes museum-quality labels and a descriptive panel outlining the art project. The highlight of each exhibition is a reception for the artists and their families, friends and teachers.
Culture Events
Culture Events introduce LUMA visitors to the rich cultural fabric of Chicago through dancing, singing, costume and cuisine. LUMA partners with arts and community organizations throughout the Chicago area.

Adult Programs
Lecture Series
A series of lectures compliments traveling exhibitions and the permanent collection. Local, national and international scholars speak at the museum to enlighten visitors on current art, theological and historical scholarship.
Lunch at LUMA
Designed for seniors, Lunch at LUMA is both social and educational. Each program is comprised of a tour of the museum, lunch and lecture or musical performance.
Docent Program
The docent program is staffed by committed volunteers who serve as LUMA’s ambassadors, educators and interpreters. Their six-month training period consists of an intensive course on the permanent collection, introductions to the five majors faiths and touring techniques. Docent-in-Training classes are held annually. After training is successfully completed, docents commit two days a month to LUMA—one for continuing education and one for tours.
Public tours
Public tours lasting 45 minutes are conducted every Tuesday through Sunday at noon and
2 p.m. Special tours must be booked with at least one month’s notice. To schedule a special tour, please contact the education department at lumaeducation@luc.edu or 312.915.7604.
