Where to Go Guide

Diagram of 25 E. Pearson

Welcome to Loyola.  You are becoming part of our legal community during a very historic year as we celebrate our 100th year as a law school.  It is also a year of change as we will all witness and benefit from some significant developments.  Most immediately, our website will start to look different.  We've developed a prototype below for a dedicated First Year Online Bulletin Board.  Please take time to review the documents and watch the videos.  The look and the content of this page and all our interior web pages will change across the year, but for now, we have focused on presenting information that will help facilitate your transition to law school.

In addition to the changes on our website, you will see other significant changes.  The renovation and expansion of the Loyola University Law Center at 25 East Pearson has begun.  Construction on the first phase of the project, which will be completed in 2010, began in July on the 10th and 11th floors of the Law Center.  By January, those floors will house our new 175-seat Ceremonial Courtroom, six state-of-the-art classrooms, the legal clinics, our Advocacy Center, the Academic Enrichment Center and the ChildLaw Center.  When phase one is completed, the School of Law will occupy exclusively nine floors of the building and will feature 19 modern classrooms with high-end audio/visual and computer capabilities, additional space for student, faculty and staff offices, and several types of attractive and quiet study areas to accommodate a variety of student study needs.  Since the construction will be conducted on vacant floors, you will probably not notice that it is occurring, but "pardon our dust" if you do.

I wish you the best as you begin your first year studies.  You are surrounded by people at Loyola - students, faculty and staff - who want you to do well and to do good.  I look forward to getting to know you over the course of the year.

Important Notes About How We Communicate With You

(1)    Email: It is your responsibility to check your Loyola email account daily.  In addition to emails sent specifically to you, broadcast emails to the law community are sent once daily.  If you prefer, you can build a forwarding rule into your law email account to an account that you prefer to check daily.

(2)    Website: Please check the FYI web page from time to time for on-going first year announcements. In addition, the law calendar and current students page provide useful information.

(3)    Mailfolder: All current students have mailfolders in the 13th floor student lounge.  When information cannot be emailed (like return drafts of your legal writing briefs), they will be left in your mailfolders.  Please check your folder regularly.

We all look forward to meeting all incoming students during the orientation events
