Jessica is currently an Assistant Appellate Defender in the First District Office, representing indigent criminal defendants on direct appeal and in post-conviction matters, including claims of actual innocence. She also serves on the board of directors of First Defense Legal Aid, a non-profit organization that provides free legal representation to persons in Chicago police custody. During law school, Jessica interned with the Office of the Cook County Public Defender, assisted in bringing class action lawsuits, and drafted judicial decisions for the Honorable David H. Coar of the Northern District of Illinois. She also edited several journals, including The Consumer Law Review, The Public Interest Law Reporter, and The International Law Review.
