Lisa served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Evanston where she drafted opinions, ordinances, and resolutions regarding topics such as zoning and land use, free speech, the Freedom of Information Act, the Open Meetings Act, and employment law. She drafted and negotiated contracts and real estate documents, advised City Staff and elected officials on procurement procedures, and attended City Council and Committee meetings.

Prior to that position, Lisa served as a Staff Attorney for the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, where she researched and wrote draft opinions and orders for all divisions of the court. In law school, Lisa was a Notes Editor for the Elder Law Journal and participated on the Frederick Green Moot Court National Team.
