About

Eileen Choate has a diverse healthcare background that encompasses both nursing and law practices. She began her career as a medical/surgical nurse and went on to pursue an advanced degree. After earning her M.S. from the University of Illinois, Eileen practiced as a Clinical Nurse Specialist where she developed and implemented education programs designed to improve nursing practice. Eileen’s interest in health law motivated her to attend law school while continuing to work full-time. In law school, Eileen served as Managing Editor of The Chicago-Kent Law Review and graduated with high honors. After receiving her J.D., she was an Associate Attorney at Vedder, Price, Kaufman & Kammholz where her practice included health law. She then served as Associate General Counsel for Weiss Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of the University of Chicago Hospitals. As a hospital attorney, her practice focused on transactions and medical staff affairs. She also directed regulatory affairs and risk management. After leaving Weiss, Eileen continued her health law practice as Associate Counsel for Healthcare Compare Corp., a provider of utilization review and preferred provider organization services to payors of health benefits. Most recently, Eileen founded Laurus Medical Legal Consulting and now provides consulting services to attorneys.
