Student Services

Division of Student Development:

The Division of Student Development seeks to enhance the intellectual, social, and spiritual growth of every student.  A collection of offices, and departments offer developmental and sequential programs and services to support students and enrich their learning experience.  Our events and activities do more than support students; they also encourage the spiritual integration of prayer, reflection, and discernment into their busy academic and personal lives.  The mission of the Division of Student Development is to support a transformative education by offering programs and initiatives which aspire to provide unparalleled service to students, providing vision and leadership for a holistic student experience

Student Services During J-Term 2014:

Athletics - The Athletic Department will be open and operating during normal business hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Team practices and games for men's and women's basketball, men's volleyball and indoor track will be operating as usual.

Bookstore– The bookstore website (http://www.luc-lsc.bkstr.com/) is available to place course material orders.  Students who order by December 15 will get their materials by the beginning of class.  The bookstore cannot guarantee delivery by January 2 of orders placed online after December 15. Students may also purchase their materials in the store during winter break.

Winter Break Bookstore Hours:

Campus Ministry & Sacramental Life – LSC: No weekday Masses; Sunday only. WTC: No Masses until spring semester begins.

Campus Recreation -The Halas facility is open over the break with abbreviated hours, closing at 8:00pm in the evening. Group fitness classes will not be offered.

Campus Safety – Campus Safety will maintain the same level of support and resources during January Intersession as provided during the academic year.

Dean of Students Office – The Dean of Students Office will be available to help students work through challenging situations and to discuss individual and community issues of concern (773-508-8840).

Dining Services - Meal plans will not be available for January Term. The following dining options are available:

Damen Food Court (LSC):  Featuring Bleeker St. from 8:00am-6:00pm and Topio's from 11:00am-5:00pm.

Southside Market (LSC): 10:00:am-4:00pm

Connections Café (LSC): Monday-Saturday January 2nd- 12th from 8:00am-4:30pm ( Closed on Sundays)

Lu's Deli Downtown (WTC):  Monday-Suday, 11:00am - Midnight

Information Technology Services (ITS)

Classroom Technology Support – During J-Term ITS provides regular classroom support for on ground courses as well as support for Sakai and other instructional technologies for both on ground and online courses. ITS classroom support staff will be onsite during the classroom hours. For more go to: http://www.luc.edu/itrs/

Digital Media Services Support – Digital Media Lab services are available during J-Term.  The Digital Media Labs feature advanced multimedia workstations and a host of other professional equipment, including an Equipment Loan Program. Klarchek Information Commons/Cudahy Libraries - Reference and Research Services, Circulation Services, Digital Media Services, Instructional Technology and Research Support, and general directional and technology assistance will be available during the following days and times over J-Term at the Lake Shore Campus:

Student Activities & Greek Affairs – Limited programming will be available.

Sullivan Center for Student Services – HUB 
Monday - Friday: 8:30am- 5:00pm

Transportation & Parking – U-Pass will not be available during the breaks per contractual agreements. Shuttles & 8-RIDE will not be running.

Students who purchased parking permits for the academic year will be able to use their permit for parking throughout January 2014.  Fall 2013 parking permits will end following final exams on Wednesday, December 18th.    If a student signs up for Spring 2014 parking by December 30, 2013 and is attending J-Term, J-Term parking will be included in the spring permit.  Be sure to request this when you purchase your spring permit at the Campus Transportation office.   All other students will need to pay the daily rate of $7/day.

Water Tower Campus Life – Terry Student Center 2nd Floor Information Desk will be closed over the break and will re-open on the 13th of January 2014.  Professional staff, however, will be on hand to offer assistance and answer questions.

Wellness Center - The Wellness Center at LSC will be open during J-Term 2014, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm, but closed on University holidays. The Wellness Center at WTC will be closed 12/23/13 through 1/1/14 and will reopen on January, 2, 2014, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm.
