Details for HSD

What You Need to Know about Loyola's Upgrade to Microsoft Exchange

After careful consideration of a number of scenarios for Loyola’s upcoming email upgrade, the decision has been made to delay the full HSD migration to Microsoft Exchange. Others within Loyola University Chicago, including the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, the Health Sciences Library, and first-year medical students, will be migrating as scheduled on May 20.

We expect the rest of HSD to move to Microsoft Exchange in the coming months. The additional time will allow Trinity the opportunity to accelerate the planning and migration of LUHS to their Exchange environment and for both organizations to further plan and manage the changes for faculty and staff, particularly those that work across both organizations.

Once the University’s May 20 move to Microsoft Exchange is complete, certain features will not be available between HSD and LUHS on GroupWise and University colleagues on Exchange:

  • Calendars – You will not be able to perform a free/busy calendar search with anyone who has moved to Exchange (and they will not be able to connect to your calendar in this way).
  • Proxy – You will not be able to proxy to a mailbox or calendar for anyone who has moved to Exchange (and they will not be able to proxy to your mailbox or calendar).
  • Address book – Users who have moved to Exchange will not appear in the global address book. Some of these people may remain in your address book as part of your personal contacts list; you may also use the Loyola University Chicago faculty and staff directory at webapps.luc.edu/directories/lwd/dsp_mainsearch.cfm to look up new addresses that you need.

We will keep you updated on the schedule and details of the HSD move as they become available.

Training Options

For those in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences Library, we’ve added two training classes at the Medical Center campus on Tuesday, May 28. Seats are still available for many of the Water Tower and Lake Shore campus classes, as well. Please visit the Documentation and Training page for more information. This page also has links to a variety of self-directed resources that you can use to learn more about the new programs and features.
