About

Dr. Kathleen Maas Weigert is currently the Carolyn Farrell, BVM, Professor of Women and Leadership and Assistant to the Provost for Social Justice Initiatives at Loyola University Chicago. She holds a doctoral degree in sociology from the University of Notre Dame, and master’s and bachelor ’s degrees in International Relations from the University of Minnesota.

Her areas of interest include justice and peace studies, experiential education and community-based learning, Catholic social tradition and political sociology. Dr. Maas Weigert has co-authored and co-edited many books and articles. Her more recent works include Living the Catholic Social Tradition: Cases and Commentary (Sheed and Ward, 2005) and “Structural Violence”  in Encyclopedia of Violence Peace & Conflict edited Lester Kurtz, Oxford: Elsevier, 2008.
