About Reverend Kevin Burke, S.J., S.T.D.

Associate Professor Systemic Theology

Fr. Kevin Burke served as dean of the Jesuit School of Theology at Santa Clara University from 2006-2012. Prior to this he served on the faculty of Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from 1997-2006.

A native of Wyoming and a Jesuit of the Missouri Province, Fr. Burke received his doctorate in Systematic Theology from Weston Jesuit with a dissertation exploring the philosophical foundations for theology developed by the Salvadoran theologian and martyr, Ignacio Ellacuría. The Ground Beneath the Cross: The Theology of Ignacio Ellacuría was published by Georgetown University Press in 2000. He later co-edited a collection of essays entitled Love that Produces Hope: The Thought of Ignacio Ellacuría (Liturgical Press, 2006).
