Using Wireless Routers on Loyola University Chicago’s Network
Wired Network Connectivity in Residence Halls:
All Loyola residence halls have wireless network access available. In addition students can request to have a physical network connection activated in their room. There is no cost for this service, however you will need to provide your own network cable to connect to the jack. NOTE: If you are want to use a router for the additional wired ports that a router provides, you should know that the Digital Media Lab has mini-hubs available for students to use during the academic year free of charge. One mini-hub provides five (5) available ports, see Mini-Hubs.
Securing Your Wireless Router
Loyola University Chicago requires you to register your router through Loyola Netreg and properly secure each router device. Loyola Netreg provides the neccessary registration and security steps for the five most common routers: Apple, Belkin, D-Link, Linksys, and Netgear. If your router is not listed or you would like additional support, please contact us directly.
