Using Wireless Routers on Loyola University Chicago’s Network

Wired Network Connectivity in Residence Halls:

All Loyola residence halls have wireless network access available.  In addition students can request to have a physical network connection activated in their room.  There is no cost for this service, however you will need to provide your own network cable to connect to the jack.  For jack locations in your residence hall room go to http://www.luc.edu/its/telecom_student_reswiring.shtml  To request service, or if you have additional questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at  773-508-4 I T S (773/508-4487).

NOTE: If you are want to use a router for the additional wired ports that a router provides, you should know that the Digital Media Lab has mini-hubs available for students to use during the academic year free of charge.  One mini-hub provides five (5) available ports, see  .

Securing Your Wireless Router

Loyola University Chicago requires you to register your router through Loyola Netreg and properly secure each router device.  Loyola Netreg provides the neccessary registration and security steps for the five most common routers: Apple, Belkin, D-Link, Linksys, and Netgear.
