Health Law Society
Faculty Advisor: Megan Bess
The Health Law Society (HLS) is a student-run organization that seeks to raise awareness of health law related legal issues, generate student interest within the field, and facilitate an ongoing dialogue regarding health law and related legal issues.
Prominent among these activities are a mentorship program, monthly newsletter, guest speakers, information sessions, community service opportunities, wellness activities, participation in American Health Lawyer Association teleconferences, and social events.
Loyola's Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy serves as the center of operations for HLS, which welcomes all members of the Law School community to its membership. Active participation in the Health Law Society is required for those J.D. students who are seeking a health law certificate. You can contact the Health Law Society at healthlawsociety@luc.edu.

Career Development / Networking
Each Spring HLS conducts a career development informational session for first year students. Additionally, in conjunction with speaker events and other health law related activities, HLS provides several networking opportunities for students to meet professionals working within field of health law.
Newsletters
In conjunction with the Beazley Institute, HLS publishes a monthly newsletter to keep their membership informed. For the 2009-2010 year HLS is unveiling a new format and content initiative including a monthly student-written article and healthy living tips. Check out our newsletters below!
Charitable Activities
Each year HLS takes on one or more charitable projects as a public service initiative. For the 2009-2010 school year HLS has already planned to participate in the school wide Hunger Week events and raise money through the AIDS walk/run. Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity?? Check out this list of local shelters and food pantries that need your help! Please check the HLS calendar as additional events are posted throughout the year!
Speaker Events
HLS hosts a number of speaker presentations each semester to educate students on important issues in the health law field. Speaker topics for the 2009-2010 year will include career and internship opportunities, health care reform, and mental health law. For more information on speaker events, please visit the Health Law Society Calendar or the Institute news and events page.
