First-Year Experience


The staff at FYE is comprised of both full-time university employees and part-time student workers. We work together to bring you comprehensive support and services as you navigate through your first year and beyond.

 Bridget Wesley, MA, LCSW

Bridget received her BA from Boston College and MA from the University of Chicago. She has worked for the Office of First Year Experience at Loyola since 2007. As a graduate of a Jesuit University, Bridget is enthusiastic about infusing all elements of First-Year Experience with a deep sense of Jesuit tradition and values.

 Scott Harris, MA
Associate Director, Academic Enrichment

Scott started in the Office of First-Year Experience in 2012 and has both his BA and MA from Loyola University Chicago. Scott works with Loyola's transfer student population to help promote their success in a holistic way. He also works with the Pre-College Summer Scholars programs, the Loyola Seminar program, and New Student Convocation. He is always excited to meet new students and work with them to make the most of their Loyola experience.

 Martin Finnie
Administrative Coordinator

Martin earned his bachelors in Business Administration-Management from UNC-Charlotte. He is currently pursuing a Masters in the School of Education at LUC. Martin joined First Year Experience in the early summer of 2014 but has been at Loyola since July of 2013. A resident of Rogers Park, he enjoys the community feel that the students and faculty/staff provide the area. Martin is enjoying his role in the further development of FYE's Transitions group, knowing that a support system for first year Loyola students can be valuable to those in need of upper-classman advice and knowledge.

 Omega Styles, MBA, MEd
Program Coordinator

Omega received her BS in Business Management from Eastern Illinois University, an MBA from DeVry University and an MEd in Counseling from DePaul University. She has worked in the Office of First Year Experience at Loyola since May 2014. Omega enjoys providing academic programs and support for all incoming students. Omega is committed to implementing programs that are holistic, transformative and engaging.

 Jamie Ellis
Program Coordinator

Jamie began with the Office of First-Year Experience in 2015, but began working at Loyola in 2011 with the Department of Residence Life. She was born and raised in the beautiful state of Colorado and received both her BS and MS from Colorado State University. Jamie oversees the Orientation program for first-year and transfer students. Jamie has a passion for helping incoming students make a positive transition into Loyola and building community among new Ramblers!

 Salina Ramos
Undergraduate Student Assistant

Salina is a junior from Saint Charles, IL and studying Nursing with a minor in Theology. She is the president of the Class of 2016 Nursing Council and was a Program Assistant and Orientation Leader with the orientation program in First-Year Experience.

 Alejandro Garcia
Undergraduate Student Assistant

Alejandro is a senior at Loyola and works in the Office of First-Year Experience.

 Nellie Konkel
Undergraduate Student Assistant

Hi! I’m Nellie. I am a senior, majoring in Psychology/Pre-med. I am from Melrose Park, Illinois. I’m a member of Alpha Chi Omega, and serve as the assistant social chair. I spent the best summer of my life as an Orientation Leader, and I am currently a student worker in the Office of First-Year Experience!

Kyle Wagner
Student Program Assistant for Orientation - Staff Development and Training
Kyle began working with the Office of First-Year Experience in the summer of 2015 as an Orientation Leader. He will receive his B.S. from Loyola University Chicago in May 2017. Kyle is excited to welcome in new Ramblers to the Loyola community while supporting them in their transition to college.
Emma Kautz
Student Program Assistant for Orientation - Advising and Logistics
Emma is a Junior at Loyola studying Finance and International Business. After being an Orientation Leader this past summer, she is now working as Program Assistant of Logistics and Advising for New Student Orientations. Emma is also a 360 Retreat Leader and involved in the business organization Enactus where she applies socially responsible business concepts to help develop outreach projects for those in needs. She is passionate about helping students transition to college and excited to continue to expand the Rambler community!
Dreyfus Maheu
Student Program Assistant for Summer Scholars - 
 Dreyfus is a junior from Albuquerque, NM and is studying Biology with a minor in Psychology. He is the Program Assistant of Admissions and Staff Training for College Coaches, and worked as a College Coach in the summer of 2015. As a former participant in the Pre-Collegiate Summer Scholars program, he looks forward to assembling a great team to help students make the most out of their summer at Loyola!
Adilene Gaviña
Student Program Assistant for Summer Scholars - Program Development
Adilene is a sophomore from DePue, IL and majoring in Health Systems Management. She was a College Coach with the Office of First Year Experience where she currently resides as a Program Assistant for the Summer Scholar Program. She is also an active member of ACE (Achieving College Excellence) and a volunteer at Almost Home Kids, a Lurie Children's Hospital affiliated organization. Adilene is very excited to contribute her skills in planning a transformative experience for the Summer Scholars!
