Corporate Ethics

In 1994, the Center for Ethics and Social Justice was invited to accept the role of successor organization to the Center for Ethics and Corporate Policy (CECP), a Chicago service organization that provided corporate leaders with time and assistance to reflect on the ethical issues they face as business persons and with an opportunity to share these reflections together. Since that year, and with the help of the Advisory Committee for Corporate Outreach (previously the Corporate Values Outreach Advisory Board), the Center has continued and expanded its initiatives in the Corporate Ethics area.

Corporate Ethics Consulting

Ethics in the workplace has always been a vital measure of corporate success, but it is receiving increasing attention in the face of numerous public failures by major corporations in recent years. Legislators, industry organizations, and the public are demanding that corporations design organizational structures and adhere to operating procedures that promise a convergence of profit and integrity rather than holding ethics hostage for the sake of an improved bottom line.

Loyola's Center for Ethics and Social Justice can aid corporations and other organizations in meeting these demands. The Center offers a variety of ethics programs for businesses, including ethics education programs and consulting, evaluation methodologies, assistance in drafting, evaluating, or amending corporate codes of conduct and mission statements, and assistance in designing organizational structures aimed at supporting ethical conduct in the organization. Programs are available to be offered on site or off, as intensive workshops or as in-service series over a longer term. The Center seeks to tailor its programs to fit the specific needs and concerns of each organization and audience.

Corporate Values Breakfasts Series

The Center for Ethics and Social Justice at Loyola University established a series of talks to be given by business and civic leaders from the Chicago area on ethical issues of contemporary importance. The aim of this series is to bring provocative ideas to an audience of prominent professionals, with the purpose of stimulating dialogue and encouraging a deeper understanding of ethical issues and ways to advance ethical behavior in the corporate sphere.
