David Ozar, Loyola University Emeritus Professor of Philosophy and a consulting ethicist at North Shore University Health System, will speak on "Social Responses to Transgender” at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 11, in Piper Hall.  Ozar has been a consultant to a local transgender support group for its educational outreach programs for two decades and has known many transgender persons.  He will explain the meaning of key terms (“gender identity,” “transgender,” “transsexual” etc.) and discuss the ways in which our society has and has not been respectful towards transgender persons.‚Äč

MONDAY OCTOBER 2, 2017

Patrick Keenan-Devlin (Law ’12), Executive Director of the James B. Moran Center for Youth Advocacy, will discuss crime, especially violent crime, among our nation’s youth.  He will assess different ways to address such crime, including the Moran Center’s approach, and will suggest ways in which ordinary citizens can contribute to finding solutions.
