Immersion: Culture

Cultural immersion allows participants to surround themselves with the rich cultural heritage and resources of Mexico, gaining a better understanding of the largest group of linguistically diverse students in Chicago and the broader United States. In addition to the immersion in daily life in Mexico City for two weeks at home and school, participants will engage in various cultural events and excursions. The excursions will take place around Mexico City to locations including the Historic Downtown, Zocolo, Xichimilico, National Palace, Floating Gardens, Diego Rivera Murals, Cathedral, Basilica de Guadalupe, Dolores Olmedo Museum, Museum of Anthropology, Chapultepec Castle, and the Pyramids. Additionally, academic sessions will be held for participants to become familiar with topics of intercultural awareness, the history of Mexico, and education in Mexico.
