Length of Program:
Two years part-time. Courses may be on-line or on campus on Saturdays. All courses must be completed within the cohort sequence. (See SOE Policy: Time Limit for Completion of Degree Requirements)
Continuous Enrollments
Doctoral students in School Psychology are required to maintain the status of continuous enrollment during their program of studies. This means that students complete the cohort in the course sequence and time frame as defined.
A formal leave of absence may be granted upon request and the approval of the Graduate School's Associate Dean.
Curriculum Plan:
The doctoral program of studies consists of a total of 72 graduate semester hours. The program is targeted for practicing school psychologists who are interested in obtaining a doctoral degree with a focus in data based decision making and system change in the schools or a mental health focus providing additional courses to obtain an LCP (licensed Professional Counselor). This program is designed as a cohort model with all participants moving through the program together.
Additionally all participants will complete an action research project as their Capstone experience which will be guided by a course of study.
Prerequisite:
All applicants should have completed a School Psychology Master’s or Ed.S. program and have obtained certification as a school psychologist and have taken or be eligible to take the NCSP(National Certified School Psychologist) exam.

Coursework (72 semester hours)
Each student would have the opportunity to transfer a maximum of 36 semester hours towards the required 72 semester hours to complete the Ed.D. in School Psychology.

Degree Conferral
While the commencement ceremony is every May, degrees can be conferred May, August, and December. Students must apply for graduation/degree conferral. Students should apply for graduation in the semester they anticipate completing all degree requirements. Failure to meet application deadlines may result in a delay of the conferral of the degree to the following semester. Applications for Degree Conferral are due:
- August 1 for December conferral
- December 1 for May conferral
- February 1 for August conferral
Please note the degree conferral application is valid for only one semester. If the degree is not conferred for the semester requested, a new application and fee are required for a subsequent semester.
