Administration and supervision courses are offered at Loyola University Chicago's Water Tower Campus and at Loyola Academy in Wilmette.

Students with two years' school supervisory or administrative experience and who possess an Illinois Type 75 principal certificate or comparable out-of-state certificate can complete Loyola's recommended program and meet the academic aspects of certification requirements for the superintendent endorsement in the State of Illinois and those states with similar requirements. Successful completion of the required certification examinations is required.

Students enrolled in the Ed.D. degree program in Administration & Supervision who do not have an Illinois Type 75 principal certificate will meet the academic requirements for that certificate upon completion of the program. Successful completion of the required certification examinations is required, along with a State of Illinois standard teaching certificate and two full years of teaching experience.

Most students in the Administration & Supervision programs take two courses per semester and are able to complete the required coursework in less than three years (including summer enrollment). The length of time for the dissertation depends upon the topic and the diligence of the student. Candidates for the Doctor of Education degree (Ed.D.) have a maximum of 7 years to complete the degree.

If students are unable to work on the degree for a period of more than one semester, they should request an official leave of absence from the program. Students who need more time to complete the degree must file for an official extension of time; the student's advisor will then recommend either a leave of absence or an extension.
