Women of Color Retreat

The Women of Color Leadership Retreat is an annual retreat hosted by LUCES (Loyola University Chicago Empowering Sisterhood).  This retreat provides a space for Loyolas Women of Color to take time for critical self-reflection and exploration of identity within the White dominate campus environment, allowing participants to re-energize through validation and nurturing of their identities, connection with mentors within their community, and engagement with leadership opportunities.  Planning for the conference is spearheaded by the LUCES Scholars.

Women of Color retreat sisters will have the opportunity to be supported by their community as we nurture and proudly take ownership of our unique identities as women of color from varying cultures, gender expressions, religions, spiritualities, sexual orientations, and backgrounds.  By nurturing and strengthening ourselves individually and collectively we hope to encourage the community to develop positive self-care habits that will positively affect our academic and co-curricular experience and strengthen our connection to, and impact on campus.
