Joe Saucedo is a native of San Antonio, Texas and a graduate of Georgetown University. He earned a degree in marketing and spent several years working in advertising on the East Coast and in San Antonio. Joe had a change of heart about his career path and he chose to pursue work in education. As a first generation college graduate, he credits much of his success to the support and guidance from mentors. Joseph has volunteered as a tutor and mentor to students in K-12 educational programs since graduating from college. He relocated to Los Angeles to become an Upward Bound Academic Coordinator advising students of color on ways to prepare for college admission. Shortly after, Joe pursued graduate coursework in student affairs at the University of California, Los Angeles. He graduated in 2011 and relocated to Chicago to become the Resident Director of Baumhart Hall at Loyola’s Water Tower Campus. In his new role as Assistant Director of SDMA, Joe coordinates the STARS program. He was a Men of Color Initiative mentor last year and is excited about supporting underrepresented students more intentionally at Loyola.
