Mikhail Fiksel is an instructor of Sound Design. He has been designing sound and composing for all Mainstage productions since 2006 and is a Mentor to student sound designers working on Mainstage and Second Stage Productions.
Outside of Loyola, he is an ensemble member of Strawdog Theatre Company and of 2ndStory/Serendipity Theatre Collective and an Artistic Associate with Collaboraction, Teatro Vista and Redmoon Theater. In addition to the numerous projects with these companies, he has worked with Northlight Theatre, Writers’ Theatre, Victory Gardens, Adventure Stage Chicago (resident designer since 2005), The House Theatre of Chicago, Lifeline Theater (where he co-wrote an original musical to be published by Playscripts in early 2011), The Hypocrites, Silk Road Theatre Project, TUTA, Albany Park Theatre Project, About Face Theatre, Wildclaw Theater, The Goodman, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, St. Louis Repertory, 2nd Stage (Off-Broadway), White Horse Productions (Los Angeles) and several international projects in Holland, Brazil and his native Russia.
Beyond theatre stages, he works on sound and music for film, dance and video games and runs The Tea Room – a studio workspace where he works with many Chicago musicians and artists, including his music projectsSeeking Wonderland and The Ordeal or his solo work (sometimes under the moniker DJ White Russian)
