Ph.D., Northwestern University
Dr. Paula Wisotzki is Associate Professor of Art History at Loyola University Chicago. She graduated magna cum laude from Lewis Clark College in her home town of Portland, Oregon. Having earned her Ph.D. at Northwestern University, she taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago before coming to Loyola in 1993. At Loyola she is a member of the graduate faculty and is affiliated with the Women's Studies and Gender Studies Program. She is Secretary of the Midwest Art History Society (MAHS), a regional professional organization of academics and museum professionals.
Dr. Wisotzki's most recent article in Oxford Art Journal, "Artist and Worker: The Labour of David Smith," joins a series of essays and scholarly papers on Smith's early career and its relationship to his political beliefs. She serves on the editorial board of the Grove Encyclopedia of American Art. Regularly honored by her students for teaching excellence, she was named a "Master Teacher" in Loyola's College of Arts and Sciences for 2006-2007.
