Pianist Chris White hails from Toronto, Canada. In 1997 he pursued his Masters degree in Jazz Studies, graduating in 2000 with a Phi Kappa Lamda award (National Music Honors Society) and was elected to the Who's Who of American College Students in 1999.
Gaining valuable experience in nearby Indianapolis, he performed with The Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, David Baker, Jamey Aebersold and Oliver Nelson, Jr. In August 2000 Chris was invited to perform in the Steans Institute for Young Artists at Ravinia hosted by James Moody, Rufus Reid and David Baker.
Currently he is an instructor of jazz piano and music appreciation at Loyola University, Chicago, and teaches jazz piano and jazz history at Lake Forest College. He is on the faculty of the Shell Lake Arts Center in Wisconsin, the oldest summer jazz camp in the nation. Chris is an active journalist and has written articles for the allaboutjazz.com and Chicagojazz magazine. Recently "Piano Today" magazine published two of his jazz piano arrangements. An upcoming book of easy jazz piano pieces is soon to be published by Really Good Music, Inc.
He continues to be a busy freelance musician in the Chicago area, performing at countless venues in the area such as The House of Blues, Navy Pier, Nordstrom, The Drake Hotel, the Palmer House Hilton, and many more.
