Recently collaborated with Temple Architects in the design of a new Fine Arts Building which houses Loyola’s Ceramics, Sculpture and Jewelry programs. 

For the past ten years, Brian's work has focused on architectural ceramics, glaze chemistry, and historical restoration. Recent commissions within that period include the Citywide Fountain project for the city of Chicago, historical restoration of Main Street Station in Richmond Va., the restoration of St. Athanasius Parish, Evanston, a ceramic mural for McCormick Place Convention Center. A current project is 140 sq. ft. tile mural commission for Loyola University’s new Fine Arts Center.

 

He has also served as consultant to various regional ceramic artists and businesses.

 

His teaching experience started with being a studio assistant to Jun Kaneko at N.Y.S. College of Ceramics at Alfred University, including wheelthrowing, ceramic sculpture, architectural ceramics, glaze chemistry, glassblowing and flat glass, woodworking, photography. After being an assistant, he taught at Interlochen Center for the Arts, Henry Ford Community College, Auburn Hills Community College, Pewabic Pottery. Before he became a ceramics program head, he taught at School of Design, University of Kansas, Lawrence, as graduate faulty/ Ceramics Department head. Then, he became the Ceramics program head at Loyola University Chicago in 1988.
