Ellen Huntington holds the second flute position with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. She has performed as soloist throughout the country in such venues as the Kennedy Center and the Chicago Cultural Center. She is also on the faculty of North Park University. Dr. Huntington collaborates with harpist Lillian Lau as a founding member of the Lyrebird Ensemble. They have recently performed LIVE on Chicago’s WFMT, at two National Flute Association Conventions and the American Harp Society National Conference. Their CD, Taking Flight, was released in 2010. Dr. Huntington is a Miyazawa Artist and is the recipient of the Union League Civic and Arts Foundation Award. She studied in Stuttgart, Germany as a Fulbright Scholar. Her teachers include Walfrid Kujala, Katherine Borst Jones, and Jean-Claude Gérard. Her dissertation is entitled “The Flute and Harp Duo in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries.” She serves as the Assistant Secretary of the National Flute Association, treasurer of the Chicago Flute Club, and is on the editorial board of the Flutist Quarterly.
