What Attracted Me to CURL:

I was a member of the Urban Issues Learning Community and we took the Seminar in Community-based Research and Leadership course. We were split into groups and partnered with various Chicago-area nonprofit organizations. Collaborating with them, we created and conducted research projects to discover ways in which these organizations could improve their services to greater attend to their clients’ needs. I was really passionate about the work we were doing and knew social science research was something I wanted to continue to do in the future. So, when a representative from CURL came to speak to our class I knew I wanted to get involved.

What I Hope to Gain from CURL:

Through the research initiatives at CURL I hope to gain a greater understanding of the intricacies of social issues in Chicago. I hope to learn more about collaborative community-based research and how and we as a community can combat social inequalities through research to bring about positive social change. I am so excited to be a part of the CURL team!
