CTSDH Workshops: Introduction to Text Mining
Introduction to Text Mining using Voyant and HathiTrust Research Portal
Friday, March 24, 2017, 12:30-2:00 pm
CTSDH, 3rd Floor, Loyola Hall

On Friday, March 24th, the CTSDH will be hosting an "Introduction to Text Mining using Voyant and HathiTrust Research Portal" with Niamh McGuigan. This workshop will introduce tools and methods for mining and visualizing textual data, with a focus on the HathiTrust Research Portal and Voyant.  Both tools are web-based and easy to use, but also allow researchers to do sophisticated analysis of textual sources.

Niamh McGuigan is Head of Reference Services; Subject Specialist for English, Latin American Studies, Anthropology, Political Science, Sociology, International Studies, Peace Studies and Cudahy Reference; and a 2016 graduate of the Master's in Digital Humanities Program.

Curious? Voyant is a powerful tool without much of a learning curve that will benefit the research toolkits of those of us across the Humanities. No previous experience with text mining or Hathitrust required (or even expected)!

Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops to gain hands-on experience working with sample texts, but laptops are not required for participation.

Please RSVP to Kyle Roberts (kroberts2@luc.edu) so we have a sense of how many are coming.

And don't miss our future workshop:
