Assistant Professor Gipsy Escobar Receives Award for Research on Homicides in Colombia

The Homicide Research Working Group ( awarded Dr. Escobar with the 2013 Richard Block Award for Outstanding Dissertation Research on Homicide and Lethal Violence for her dissertation Social Disorganization and the Public Level of Crime Control: A Spatial Analysis of Ecological Predictors of Homicide Rates in Bogota, Colombia. Dr. Escobar will present the results and officially receive the award at the American Society of Criminology annual meeting in Atlanta this November.
