Director of Commmunity Relations
Summur manages the Community Relations staff and priorities and is one of Loyola's most visible faces in the local neighborhoods. She sets the agenda for programmatic initiatives, communication strategies and the development of key relationships in the public sector.
Summur represents Loyola to local elected officials and City of Chicago agencies such as Chicago Police and Department of Streets and Sanitation. Additionally, she manages Loyola's relationships with block clubs and all community organizations.
Externally, Summur serves as board president for the Rogers Park Business Alliance. In the past she has served on the boards of Northside Community Resources (formerly Rogers Park Community Council), Partners for Rogers Park, and as a steering member of North Edgewater Beach Association.
At Loyola's Water Tower Campus, Summur chairs the Chicago Avenue Safety Task Force which organizes business-owners and institutions around solutions and support for safety concerns. She finds ways to connect the Department of Campus Safety to wider community policing strategies through her leadership of the Campus Safety Advisory Committee.
Internally, advises the Associate Vice President of Campus and Community Planning on campus development initiatives. Summur serves on the University Sustainability Committee and is the creator and chair of North Lake Shore Earth Day that joined local community leaders and stakeholders to host a two-day event in April, with participation from thousands of residents, students and green businesses of Chicago's north side.
Summur organizes Extremely Local Alumni events in collaboration with the Department of Alumni Relations that invite the over 2,000 Loyola alums in Rogers Park and Edgewater to celebrate their alma mater and their community.
Summur is responsible for the creation and on-going success of Loyola Gives, which as of 2008 is now coordinated by the Department of Ministry, and the Faculty and Staff Service Day which, to date, has served the building improvement needs of Swift Elementary School in Edgewater, Chicago Math and Science Academy in Rogers Park, St. Gregory High School in Andersonville, and the Chicago Jesuit Academy on the west side of Chicago.
Summur serves as the creator and editor-in-chief of Loyola Neighborhood News e-publication which is sent monthly to over 5,000 residents surrounding the Lake Shore, Water Tower and Bull Valley Campuses.
She holds a BA in Communications and a MS in Human Resources, both from Loyola University Chicago.
