Hilton Groundbreaking Ceremony

Loyola University Chicago and Atira hotels hosted a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this month to celebrate the construction of the new Hampton Inn Chicago North/Loyola Station in Rogers Park.

Atira Hotels will serve as the developer and owner of the hotel, while more than 9,500 square feet of retail space at the street level will be owned and managed by the University’s Lakeside Management group.

The celebratory groundbreaking took place on the hotel’s construction site on the southwest corner of Albion and Sheridan roads.  In attendance were Loyola University Chicago’s Interim President, John Pelisserro, Alderman Joe Moore, Atira’s owners and administrators, and members of the Loyola community.

John Pelissero, the Alderman, and Atira Hotel’s President, Sanjeev Misra spoke to attendees about their hope and excitement for the future enrichment of Sheridan Road and Rogers Park.

Alderman Moore spoke at the event, as he emphasized how the Rogers Park community would benefit from attaining a hotel. He noted that the closest mid-priced hotels were in Evanston and Skokie, and now with the new hotel, local residents will be able to accommodate their visiting guests. The speakers and other select dignitaries were then ready to put on their hard hats, followed the red carpet to the gravel site and simultaneously dug into the future home of the hotel.‌

Located less than one block from the Chicago Transit Authority’s Loyola Red Line station, the Hampton Inn Chicago North/Loyola Station will be one of the most significant and recognized lakefront hotels north of Belmont Avenue. It will offer 145 guest rooms, along with a fitness center and rooftop terrace. The sixth floor will provide guests sweeping views of Lake Michigan and Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus to the north and east and the city to the south and west.
