Loyola’s School of Communication prides itself on its successful integration of study and practical application of communication. Each week, the School of Communication hosts events for students to gain inspiration from those in their field, giving the study of communication a tangible place in the real world.

Out of Eden: The Walk with Paul Salopek

Oct. 30, 4:30- 5:30 pm Terry Student Center, Rooms 303 and 304

All are invited to attend a conversation with two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Salopek as he shares his plans to begin a foot journey around the world that will last seven years. He aims to live out the first migration, while reporting on poverty, conflict, climate change and local innovations for the street-level from Ethiopia to Patagonia.

Afghanistan: Then and Now

Nov. 1, 7-8:30pm Regents Hall, 16th floor

Speakers Anna Badkhen and Vanessa Gezari, who have both been immersed in Afghanistan’s culture and write on topics of fatality and international affairs, will share their perspectives on Afghanistan’s present and future.

V-Day 11.11.11 Screening

Nov. 9, 6-10pm Regents Hall, 16th Floor

Loyola SOC Faculty John CP Goheen and Aaron Greer will screen their latest documentary “V-Day 11.11.11,” which illustrates the stories of 15 veterans. The attendance fee is $20, which includes dinner, drinks and a $10 donation to the School of Communication Scholarships. There will be free admission for students who register with their LUC email.
