Community Holiday Party Beneficiary Spotlight: Ignatian Services
Ignatian Services-St. Ignatius Food Pantry
A program facilitated through St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in Rogers Park, Ignatian Services is the social service expression of the parish’s faith community. Its purpose is to provide assistance to those members of our neighborhood who are in need. The primary ministry of Ignatian Services is the distribution of food through our food pantry. Supported through parish volunteers and donations from outside organizations, Ignatian Services strives to develop new programs to help the disadvantaged members of our community to lead healthy lives-- body and soul. Throughout the year, Ignatian Services supplies its clients with an assortment of core food items to meet the needs of their families, including a traditional turkey dinner for the community on Thanksgiving, and special holiday food baskets in December. During the Holiday Season, Ignatian Services also partners with Catholic Charities to sponsor their “Giving Tree”, through which generous parishioners and neighbors donate new toys for over 200 needy children; ensuring that these children have a brighter holiday season.
Of the 925 individuals who are served each month at Ignatian Services, 37% are children or teens and 17% are senior citizens. If you are interested in supporting this Ignatian Services further, consider joining Ton of Food Club, in which your donation of $140.00 enables us to purchase a ton of food (2,000 pounds) at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. A contribution of $70.00 will buy a half of ton. No donation is too small; $12.00 will buy a case of peanut butter; $58.00 will buy 36 gallons of powdered milk. As the Holiday Season presents an even greater challenge for those in need, please support Ignatian Services as a beneficiary of our Community Holiday Party’s canned food drive.
