Sara Dakuras

Sara Dakuras joined the Center for the Human Rights of Children in 2013 as a graduate assistant. She received her B.S. in Psychology/Clinical Counseling from Saint Xavier University in 2011, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Sara is currently a second-year Masters student in the School of Social Work at Loyola and is completing her second-level internship at Presence Behavioral Health in the recovery program. Sara completed her first-level MSW internship at Chicago House and Social Service Agency, where she became interested in improving the lives of at-risk youth, especially child refugees from Africa and Asia.

Sara is highly passionate about the field of eating disorders and is very involved with promoting eating disorder awareness, education, and advocacy by working with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) as a Navigator and volunteering at the annual conferences. Her passion led to the creation of her Facebook page, Defeat Ed: Find Your Voice. Sara plans on becoming an eating disorder specialist and wants to conduct much needed research in this area. She believes advocacy and education creates the opportunity for progress in achieving human rights.
