Cultural and Educational Policy Studies Graduate Student Association
Who are we?
CGSA is comprised of Loyola University Chicago graduate students and alumni who are interested and active in the fields of that comprise Cultural and Educational Policy Studies (CEPS): Comparative & International Education, History of Education, Philosophy of Education, and Sociology of Education. We are advised by Professor Noah W. Sobe and other members of the School of Education Cultural and Educational Policy Studies faculty.
The diversity of our group both geographically and in terms of scholarly interest and experience greatly enriches the quality of professional development here at Loyola. Our group meets regularly to share information, ideas, food, and friendship. As a community, we are actively engaged in presenting research at conferences and encourage participation and attendance. We also serve as a social organization with relationships with other student groups across campus to enhance student involvement in the Loyola community.
What is CGSA's mission?
The broad mission that CIEGSA seeks to advance is threefold:
Getting Loyola students involved in professional activities in CEPS and beyond
Providing a supportive social community
Promoting Loyola, the program, and its visibility
More broadly, CGSA aims to represent students and alumni of the CEPS program at Loyola University Chicago, encourage participation in the activities and events that pertain the association, inform members of career opportunities in the Chicago area and worldwide, and promote alumni mentorship of active student-members. In addition to sponsoring events, our regular meetings include, but are not limited to alumni panels, discussions of formal conference attendance and paper presentations, reviewing academic writing, and peer-to-peer mentorship.
The expansiveness of cultural and educational policy studies benefits significantly from a large and diverse community of active members and we invite you to join us as we exchange ideas regarding our academic and personal endeavors.
