Mission: Ramble Outdoors integrates the Loyola University Chicago student promise of care for self, care for others, and care for the environment by providing educational experiences. Using the outdoors as classrooms, students participate in challenging and intentional, group-based activities that provide space for reflection and leadership development. We accomplish this mission through the following:
These short-term experiences provide an entry point to try a new outdoor sport, explore new lands, and connect with students who share your passion for the outdoors. We offer trips for all students and custom trips designed for a specific group. If you and your friends want to have fun while learning about each other and working on becoming a better functioning group or team, Ramble Outdoors can help to design an experience that will be fun, challenging, and provide time in the outdoors that will strengthen your group experience.
The Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC) Challenge Course functions as a living laboratory for participants to learn to work in right relationship with self and others. Activities are focused on group formation, relationship building, communication and problem solving. Our staff works with each group to custom design experiences that fulfill learning outcomes identified by group leaders and incorporate the interests of group members.
Need a break from all the stress? The Rock Wall supplies a challenging experience that is right here on campus. We can supply you with all the necessary equipment and no previous experience is needed. Rock climbing is a fun work out so grab some friends and join us as we reach new heights!
Transitioning to university life is exciting, but can also be stressful and intimidating. Before the fall semester begins, join us and other first-year students on an adventure trip. Meet new students, ask big questions, and gain confidence that you will be at home here at Loyola.
Ramble Outdoors maintains an inventory of backpacking and camping equipment that may be rented out by Loyola community members.
