Jesus said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit" (John 20:23b).
There are two routes for Loyola University students who desire to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.
- Students who are practicing Catholics who have been baptized in the Catholic Church and have received their first Holy Communion will attend eight classes about Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, the Church, and the Sacraments. Classes will meet once a week for ninety minutes, beginning on September 23, 2015. The sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred by Bishop Francis J. Kane during a solemn Mass at Madonna della Strada Chapel at 5:00 p.m. on a Sunday in late November, 2015 (exact date TBA).
- Students who have not been baptized in the Catholic Church or who have been baptized in the Catholic Church but never received their first Holy Communion will join other Loyola students for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, which begins September 13, 2015. All of these students will be confirmed and receive their first Holy Communion at the Great Vigil of Easter on March 27, 2016.
