Friday Night
5 p.m. Arrival, getting settled.
5:30 p.m. Introduction to Center; Br. David Darst; John Baptist De LaSalle; Retreat Team
5:45 p.m. Opening Prayer (move to Chapel)
6:10 p.m. Discussion of Catholic Social Teaching (common room)
6:25 p.m. Exploration of social problems that exist today, as listed by students.
6:35 p.m. Activity: demonstrates the natural inclination to label, to "box people in."
7 p.m. Dinner
7:35 p.m. Clean-up
8:30 p.m. Depart for Northside Housing, formerly Lakeview Shelter, a men's shelter on Addison Avenue on the north side of Chicago. The students visit with the men, sharing stories and playing games. Then return to Darst Center.
11 p.m. Night prayer
Midnight Lights out
8:30 a.m. Breakfast
9:15 a.m. Morning prayer
9:30 a.m. Depart for San Miguel Tutoring (10 a.m.-1 p.m.)
1:30 p.m. Lunch, followed by cleanup and free time
3 p.m. Depart for Su Casa Catholic Worker, a shelter for Latino families.
4 p.m. Organize activities for Children at Su Casa
6:15 p.m. Dinner at Su Casa, followed by cleanup
7:30 p.m. Depart back for Darst Center
8:30 p.m. Evening Program: Presentation and Discussion "Works of Mercy" versus "Social Action," followed by free time
Midnight Lights out
8:30 a.m. Breakfast
9 a.m. Packing and cleanup
9:45 a.m. Depart for Mass at St. Benedict the African
10:30 a.m. Mass
Noon Depart for Darst Center
12:30 p.m. Closing and departure
