Alternative Break Immersions
Immerse yourself in the world...
Come serve communities here and abroad during academic breaks through Loyola's Alternative Break Immersion (ABI) program! Immersions are recognized as key experiences of a transformative Jesuit education rooted in social justice. ABIs provide opportunities for you to expand your learning beyond the classroom and involve a combination of direct service and cultural immersion in a host community. Through immersions we live simply, build community, deepen faith, and do justice, while sharing work and gaining new awareness from our interactions with diverse communities and one another.
Contact Susan Haarman at email@example.com for more information.
The immersion program is open to all students. Space is limited, and a waiting list is typical of each application process. Preference is given to undergraduate students.

The deadline to apply for Winter Trips is Septemeber 14th, 2014.
The deadline to apply for Spring and May Trips is November 3, 2014.
Faculty, staff, and graduate assistants may participate with a role in co-leading an ABI with a student leader. If you're interested in applying, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Building community is an essential part of the ABI experience, both within your ABI group and with the host community.
Participants will, therefore, prepare for their immersion with their group through three to five mandatory meetings. These meetings involve efforts to educate the group about the host community and issues likely to be encountered during immersion.
The Alternative Break Immersion fee covers transportation, lodging, meals, and a donation to the host organization. Limited financial assistance is available.
Participants will need money for meals on the road and other personal expenses. Costs vary for local, domestic, and international immersions and can be found in the specific trips descriptions.
