Blackboard Announcements

Blackboard announcements can provide timely information for your students about class activities. When you post an announcement to your class, it appears on the course’s Home Page in the My Announcements module. When you create an announcement, you have the option to broadcast it to all students' email --  that means the announcement appears on Blackboard, and also is sent to students' email inboxes.

Creating an Announcement

  1. Under Control Panel, click on Course Tools.




  2. Click on Announcements.




  3. To create a new announcement, click on Create Announcement.



  4. In section 1, fill in the name of your announcement in the Subject box and text of the announcement in the Message box.



  5. Isection 2, select your Web Announcement Options. As a default setting, only announcements posted within the last seven days will be visible. Students will be able to see the older announcements by clicking on More Announcements. Here are the options you can set:

                Duration: Select either to make it permanent or date restricted

                Select Date Restrictions: You can select to display the announcement on certain dates

                Email: Select Send a copy of this announcement immediately to email 
                 the announcement to all of your students



  6. In section 3, you have the option to add a link to any content area in your course. To add a link, click Browse and select the area or item to link to.



  7. Once all sections are completed, click Submit.
             

 

The new announcement appears on the Announcements page; you can use the double-headed arrows to drag-and-drop announcements to reorder them.

          

 Modifying or Removing an Announcement

  1. Under Control Panel, click on Course Tools.




  2. Click on Announcements.



  3. Find the announcement you want to change or delete and click on the chevron. Then, select either Edit or Delete.




    If you select Edit, you will be directed to the Edit Announcement page to make your modifications. If you select Delete, a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the delete; select OK.
