Transfer Students

Loyola SCPS accepts transfer credit earned from community colleges and regionally accredited universities for University Core courses.

64
The maximum number of transfer semester hours (or 96 quarter hours) from all two-year colleges combined. Does your credit transfer? The website itransfer.org can help.

45
The average number of transfer credits accepted from previous college courses, corporate or military training, and proficiency tests. What's your experience?

Although we do not have transfer credit guides available for schools from outside of Illinois, Loyola does accept academic courses from regionally accredited colleges and universities to satisfy Core Curriculum and major requirements. Descriptions of the courses that satisfy Loyola's Core Curriculum requirements are available online. Loyola participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative program for awarding transfer credit. For more information, see itransfer.org.

Applicants who have attended institutions outside the United States can request a Course by Course Evaluation or a Catalog Match Evaluation from Educational Perspectives to complete their application. For students who decide to enroll, the Catalog Match Evaluation will be required and used to receive credit for any courses taken abroad.

All students must satisfy the residency requirement to receive a bachelor’s degree from Loyola. Students must take their final, uninterrupted 45 hours of instruction or a minimum of 64 hours in residence at Loyola University Chicago.

For information on course requirements, visit the degree completion and certificate program pages.
