Loyola University Chicago

School of Continuing and Professional Studies

Dean's Welcome

On behalf of Loyola University Chicago’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, I want to welcome you to the next great step in your life. Where might this step take you? Maybe to a place of deep satisfaction when you complete your degree and hold the diploma in your hands; maybe to a place of exhilaration when you land a coveted career promotion; or maybe simply to a place of broader knowledge about subjects that capture your interest.

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies has developed several degree programs that respond to the needs of today’s adult students and employers. Our Bachelors of Arts degree in Management offers students seven relevant, real-world concentrations asked for most by employers, including organizational development and leadership and business communication. The Bachelor of Arts in Applied Studies gives students the opportunity to focus on several study areas including: economics and finance, communication, public policy, criminal justice, and paralegal Studies.

The BA/MA in Pastoral Leadership is ideal for adults currently serving as lay ministers or seeking employment as pastoral caregivers, spiritual directors, social justice advocates, or educators in organizations whose mission focuses on social justice or religious education. Our newest degree, the Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice introduces students to all aspects of the nation's complex criminal justice system, while giving them a strong background in the liberal arts.

Our certificates provide professional expertise in the areas of math and statistics, visual communication, management, and strategic leadership for women.

Non-credit classes at Loyola provide students the opportunity to continue their educational journey. Our Continuum program extends the intellectual depth of the University into the community by offering courses in the humanities, personal and professional development, sustainability, and writing. Courses and seminars designed for working professionals – including programming in women’s leadership – extend our connection to Loyola’s professional schools.

Our commitment to an exceptional education matches yours. I welcome you, and I encourage you to explore how our programs and certificates can fuel the changes you most want to make in your future, your career, and your life.

Sincerely,

Janet V. Deatherage, PhD
