Windows of Faith
The Windows of Faith are a welcoming visualization of the Loyola University Museum of Art’s mission: the exploration of the spiritual through the art of all faiths and cultures. To date, the five contemporary world’s leading faiths are represented.
The windows are the work of local artists, adherents to the particular faith. Through a rich lexicon of visual imagery and symbols, the artists have striven to articulate tenets of their faith and aspects of its cultural and history, thus the depiction of the Western Wall, the only surviving element of Jerusalem’s Second Temple in the Judaism window, and the incorporation of the declaration of faith La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammadur rasoolu Allah—There is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God—to signify Islam.
